Exposure Unit Product Guide

The Exposure Unit plays an important role in the quality of your screen printed product. All Workhorse screen exposure unit systems feature digital time control for accurate and repeatable screen exposure times and a powerful vacuum hold-down system that provides intimate film to screen contact for maximum image resolution. If your plans call for producing a moderate number of simple, athletic type designs, the LUMITRON or LUMINATOR screen expoure unit may be all that you will ever need. To produce a moderate number of higher resolution designs, choose the POINT 1000 screen expoure unit. If you want to produce a high number of screens of the highest possible resolution choose the PHOTOSHARP screen expoure unit.

PERFORMANCE FEATURES

IMAGE RESOLUTION:
Do you want to produce simple or highly detailed designs? While simple and athletic designs still make up the majority of screen printed images, the latest software and clip art make producing complex artwork more simple than ever.

GOOD: The Lumitron and Luminator screen expoure units have a UV Fluorescent Light Source. It reproduces coarse halftones and line art designs very well.
BETTER: The Point1000 screen expoure units feature the Halogen / UV Light Source. It reproduces halftone and fine line designs with excellent definition 
BEST: The PhotoSharp screen expoure units feature a Focused Metal Halide Light Source. It reproduces the most detailed halftone and fine line designs with amazing accuracy.

What is Good, Better, Best?


SCREEN SIZE:
Do you use smaller Manual or larger Automatic Size Screens or a combination of both? If you have space limitations, a small exposure unit will fit the bill. If automation is in the future, you may want to consider a larger screen exposure unit.

BETTER: Unlike other table-top screen exposure units that only fit one manual sized screen, the Lumitron and Luminator handles either a manual or automatic sized screen up to a Large 23x31 inch/ 58x79cm O.D.

BEST: Point1000 and PhotoSharp exposure units both handle manual or automatic size screens up to 25x36 inches/63x91cm O.D.

What is Good, Better, Best?

 

DAILY SCREEN THROUGHPUT:
How many screen exposures do you need to produce in a day? New, small, home-based or pre-print companies may only need to expose a moderate number of new screen exposures per day. Growing businesses or those with plans for growth are likely to need to produce a higher number of new screen exposures per day.

GOOD: Lumitron and Luminator has a UV Fluorescent Light Source produces a moderate number of screen exposures a day.
BETTER: Point1000 Halogen / UV Light Source produces a higher number of screen exposures a day.
BEST: PhotoSharp's Shuttered, Dual-Spectrum Metal Halide Light Source produces the highest number of new screen exposures a day including thick, high-density screens.

What is Good, Better, Best?

 

DIRECT EMULSION OR CAPILLARY FILM TYPE:
What type of Direct Emulsion or Capillary Film do you plan to use? Photopolymer sensitized materials are typically the fastest and most expensive. Diazo sensitized materials are typically slower and the least expensive while Dual-Cure (a combination of Photopolyer and Diazo) are moderately priced and moderately quick.

GOOD: Lumitron and Luminator's UV Fluorescent Light Source is compatible to Diazo emulsion and is ideal for Photopolymer or Dual-Cure sensitized emulsion. Lumitron is not suitable for thick, high-density stencils.
BETTER: Point1000 is compatible with Diazo and is ideal for those Photopolymer or Dual-Cure sensitized emulsion. Point1000 is not suitable for thick, high-density stencils.

BEST: PhotoSharp's dual spectrum lamp is compatible with emulsions or capillary films sensitized with Diazo, Photopolymer or Dual-Cure sensitized. PhotoSharp is ideal for thick, high-density emulsions.
